Workflow Management Product Comparison & Analysis for USAMRIID
Challenge
The US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) needed to perform a detailed analysis of at least three Workflow/Document Management systems. The goal was to determine benefits, compatibility with existing systems, and ease of implementation and use for each system.
Solution
The initial phase completed by Romanyk Consulting Corp. (RCC) included selecting best-in-breed technology based on the client's requirements and performing an initial evaluation/scoring of vendors. From this analysis three vendors were selected for further comparison and discovery. Each of the three vendors was provided evaluation criteria from which they prepared a response both in writing and in live presentation. The potential vendors were also provided with a very simple process flow from which they modeled their live presentation. The client was then provided with a detailed report prepared by RCC team members with the analysis of the final three vendors, a quantified score for each vendor with concrete data to back the score up, and a clear RCC recommendation.
Benefits/Outcome
Workflow serves as the core backbone of the USAMRIID enterprise architecture. As such, it was a critical path decision point for the Institute. Using this analysis as the basis for making their decision ensured both near term success and long terms sustainability. USAMRIID purchased the recommended product from the analysis performed by RCC and currently they are in the customization and implementation phase of deployment.
