Romanyk Consulting Corp. (RCC) replaced a non-functioning patient wandering system with a new patient safety system to protect high-risk dementia patients from wandering away. This system locates patients in real-time within the CLC and clinical building.
RCC services included site visits, field investigation, studies, and user interviews to prepare drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. The team surveyed existing utilities to assess the most efficient and cost effective route the system. Wang (PM/EE) and Koehler (EE) along with RCC's in-house A/E team designed the electrical, IT and low voltage system.
The new patient wandering safety system includes RF readers in corridors, hallways, and lobbies; display/monitoring stations at the front desk/nurse area on each level / wing; new door contacts, door controller, LF antenna, and keyed switches at each door; placement of power-over-ethernet (PoE) switches and power supply equipment on walls in TR rooms; CenTrak network equipment Stars located in corridors and lobbies; and routing of all cat. 6a cables in above-ceiling conduits; and CenTrak application and core servers and software installed in the master control room (MCR) of Building 500.
